Neil’s story

Neil came to the Barossa from Melbourne during COVID and settled in Angaston.

It meant changing just about everything. He'd been working a desk job, and he swapped it for building fences and gates with his hands.

These days that's the whole business: custom gates built to fit the opening, rural and farm fencing, post and rail for homes in town, and gate motors. Most of it is hardwood timber. Spotted gum is his go-to, oiled to protect it, and a lot of his entrance gates have a curved top rail. Steel goes in where it suits.

He likes working with locals, and he'd like to do more work close to home, around the Barossa, the Adelaide Hills and Gawler. If you're nearby, he'd be glad to hear from you.

How Neil works

When you deal with Aston Rural you deal with Neil, the person designing and building your gate. There's no sales team and no catalogue, just honest advice and a gate that's made properly.

He does the fencing as well, out on farms and paddocks and around houses in town, so a new entrance can go in as one job: gates, posts and rails in the same timber and finish, with a motor and keypad if you want the gate automated.

How a job runs

Send Neil a photo or a rough sketch of the spot, and the opening width if you've got it.
He talks it through with you, measures up and gives you a quote.
He builds the gate to fit that opening.
He hangs it, fits a motor and keypad if you want one, and shows you how it all works. Or you can pick the gate up, or have it delivered ready to put in.
